- Either use one of the prompts or you can make your own.
- Have fun.
★ Prompts
1) Arrival
[Before you knew it, the world you were in had gone dark. Why or even how wasn't exactly clear, but the moment you wake up, you find that you are not where you were before. Instead there appears to be a small village, but it's dark and the people appear to not be leaving there houses anytime soon. Why weren't they? Perhaps looking around might wield results.]
2) Monster Attack
[Just outside the village creatures appear to be wondering around. If you come too close they will attack. Sharp claws swinging towards whoever crosses there path. Avoid or counter?]
3) What the hell?!
[In the woods, if one were to wonder further enough they would come across a circle and a bunch of cloak people, kneeling down and bowing down toward the center. Whatever was going on it was certainly odd.]
4) Wildcard

no subject
[ His answer was dry, but decidedly defiant. He would work with her as long as that would ensure survival, but he wasn't going to take any gambles on any semblance of trust. He studied her carefully when she opened her bag just to be sure she wasn't going to pull a gun or some other weapon. His stare was intrusive, but survival trumps manners every time. ]
If you're right then the village is our best bet, but there's a good chance we're going to have to fight our way there.
[ Bucky had no basis for what they were facing, but considering she was in the thick of it with him there was a slim chance she would lie. Withhold information, maybe, but not outright lie. There was also the fact that her idea followed logic, which was the most reassuring thing. ]
no subject
You can riffle through my backpack if that makes you more comfortable.
[The most dangerous thing about her isn't in her bag and it isn't as if Freya is interested in fighting.]
Wait... fighting? Can't we just go around them?
[Freya looks up at him with a worry glint to her gaze. He doesn't know this but her race can't lie. There is no point in lying. Your body shows signs of deceit which while small are easily picked up by werewolves; so why lie?]
no subject
[ An isolated area unfamiliar to her target would be an ideal place to make a move if she had one. The looming threat of monstrosities could only have aided her had she wanted information. It would also be a good opportunity to take him out completely.
But the chance wasn't acted upon. Did that mean she was caught up in this mess at random? Was he caught up in this at random? He let the thought drop for the moment. He had more pressing things to think about. ]
It's too risky. We can't plan a proper evasion strategy because we don't know where we are. Cutting through and keeping up an offense as we go is the most solid shot we're going to get.
[ Bucky couldn't even remember the last time he had spoken like he just had. Like the mere sergeant he used to be. It felt so... foreign. Not wrong, but not right either; just like how so many other things felt. ]
no subject
It gives her an uneasy feeling in her stomach.]
I've pulled nothing and sadly I have nothing. Which brings us to the fighting bit.
[She drops her arms to her sides.]
You have a metal arm, how am I suppose to fight?
[Technically she can turn into a wolf but she doesn't like fighting. She doesn't feel comfortable fighting.] Wait, if they are shadows... can't we just cast light to make them go away?
[She hopes he's willing to try it.]
no subject
Bucky snapped his head away when he realized how long he'd been looking at her. He would be a liar if he said she wasn't beautiful. She looked a bit like... who? He resisted the urge to shake his head. He couldn't even remember the name of the girl he was dating before HYDRA scrambled his brain. Had she mourned him? The thought had never even crossed his mind until then. He'd left someone behind and he couldn't even recall anything about her except some vague blurry memory of her face. ]
Nice tattoos.
[ He mumbled the words, hardly aware that he'd said them. He looked downward, caught up in days gone by and questions he couldn't answer, but the reminder of his metallic appendage pulled him out of the past and into the present. No time to dwell. He was about to answer her, but stopped short when she spoke again. ]
Cast light from what? [ Wait.] From my arm?
no subject
I have more but we'll have to be closer if you want to see them.
[The statement is only half true, if she were to shift he'd most likely see all of her tattoo's or if she put on a tank top but the levity is nice considering their current situation.
When he mentions his arm she shakes her head.] No. I mean, yes and no. You can create a spark right? There are a lot of dead trees around here. He just need to create a torch. What better way to fight a shadow? And if that fails we can follow your plan. [Assuming he has another plan that isn't 100% force.]
no subject
[ He'd answered before thinking, but he had no idea how to take that kind of comment. Not anymore, anyway. If she was watching closely enough she might have noticed his expression shifting just slightly, but he was fortunate to be able to default back to his neutral facade quickly enough.
Bucky moved on as if she hadn't said anything at all, but there was still a small thought turning in the back of his mind, wondering if he had actually heard her correctly to begin with.
He considered her idea for only a moment before internally chiding himself for not thinking of it. ]
Fine, but either way we're going to have to be fast. Are you ready to move again?
no subject
Oh, I can be fast. [She lets out a huff of air before moving towards one of the dead trees. She doesn't see anything they can use on the ground so she jumps up and uses her minimal body weight to break off a branch that might work.]
I'm very good at running.
[Freya holds out the branch for Bucky.]
Are you ready?
no subject
He raised a brow at her next move. ]
Good at jumping too, apparently.
[ Tension returned to Bucky's face as he pulled up his sleeve, revealing most of his arm. Letting other people see it could be... hard, but it was what had to be done. He took the branch from her hands, positioning it against the metal. After a shallow exhale, he grasped the it firmly and applied friction, lightly at first but soon much faster.
And then, light.
He turned to her with the vaguest hint of a smirk, holding out the torch so she could take it. ]
Ready.
no subject
I'm discovering new talents every day.
[She watches him curiously, not at all phased by the metal arm. It looks really cool and if she were to ever lose an arm she'd totally want one. Right now she's happy to have both of her arms.
When the light flares at the end of the branch she blinks and then looks away. It's brighter than she thought it would be.]
Yeah, yeah. You're amazing.
[That smirk is sort of cute.]
I'm ready. Are you leading? If so you should hold the light. I'll stay right behind you.
no subject
[ Human matchbox wasn't really a talent to brag about, though.
The smirk widened just a bit. It felt familiar to have someone to banter with, and familiarity was something he rarely got to experience. It wasn't so bad in this case.
He had assumed the blonde would want to keep the light close to her, but holding on to it might be a better idea. Putting her at the front would be reckless. He turned back toward where they had come, but he held his metallic hand behind his back with his gaze set straight ahead. ]
Need to hold hands again?
no subject
Only if you promise not to let go.
[Freya steps behind him and takes his hand that isn't holding the flaming branch. It isn't as if she'll have trouble keeping up but she doesn't want to get lost in the dark with those shadows around.
She's fast but she can't make it on her own.]
no subject
Wouldn't dream of it.
[ It was hard to gauge his own strength sometimes, but he tried to keep his grasp firm but not overtly so. Hopefully it would work out. Bucky hadn't even expected her to actually want to. While he was a little bit serious about it, it had mostly been a joke. Not like he could do anything about it now.
He started to move forward, but there was one thing on his mind that was important to ask. ]
I don't know your name yet.
[ He would have offered his own first were he anything like his old self, but he was still debating on how transparent he should be. James was out of the question, he knew that much. ]
no subject
Her lips tug into a warm smile as she spoke.] My name is Freya.
[She almost laughs at how normal introductions feel in this sort of setting.]
What's yours?
[Freya doesn't mind calling Bucky by a nickname or really any name he wants though a small part of her will want to learn his birth name. Freya's always been curious and while she's grown skittish and cautious over time that curiosity hasn't diminished.]
no subject
He lingered in silence as he considered just what to tell her, but that old nickname, the one that reminded him of a past he couldn't yet understand, fell from his lips before he could conjure anything better. ]
... Bucky.
[ He felt vulnerable for having spoken that name, and his stoic expression fell for a few unshielded moments. He was fortunate in that at the very least they had the distance of metal between them. ]
no subject
Bucky? [Sounds like a nickname.] I like it. It suits you.
[A soft laugh escapes her lips in a puff of hair before she can stop it.] Can I call you buck? It's cute.
[Like a stag: strong, powerful, brave. It suits him.]
no subject
He shot a look back down at her, brows furrowed. ]
Cute? [ He huffed. ] No. I don't do cute.
[ Somehow he had a feeling that wouldn't deter her. It sure as hell hadn't stopped Steve Rogers. ]
no subject
What if I said it was super manly? Can I call you buck then?
[She can just come up with a new nickname all together if he's bothered by it. Freya doesn't put much stock in names but then she rarely gives her last name to those she meets. She squeezes his metal hand lightly.]
Now that we're introduced we should probably get going.
no subject
[ His voice wasn't cold, but it wasn't warm either. She was right that they needed to move. He was losing focus over something petty and inconsequential. He didn't want to think about how that small gesture of kindness made him feel, either. ]
Stay close. [ After a moment, he spoke again. ] If something goes wrong take the torch and run. You're good at that, aren't you?
[ He didn't think the light would fail them, but if it did he wanted her to at least have a chance. ]
no subject
I won't take the torch.
[Her tone is firm as if it's settled.]
I can run faster without it and if something goes wrong you'll need it or we won't have it. [Freya's logic makes perfect sense though it does little to comfort her. She releases a breath of air and then nods.] I've been running for a long time.
[She doesn't want to say more on the matter so she wants for him to start moving.]
