1) Arrival
[Before you knew it, the world you were in had gone dark. Why or even how wasn't exactly clear, but the moment you wake up, you find that you are not where you were before. Instead there appears to be a small village, but it's dark and the people appear to not be leaving there houses anytime soon. Why weren't they? Perhaps looking around might wield results.]

2) Monster Attack
[Just outside the village creatures appear to be wondering around. If you come too close they will attack. Sharp claws swinging towards whoever crosses there path. Avoid or counter?]

3) What the hell?!
[In the woods, if one were to wonder further enough they would come across a circle and a bunch of cloak people, kneeling down and bowing down toward the center. Whatever was going on it was certainly odd.]

[Freya glances over at him and... damn he's really tall. Stormy gray eyes met their match when she looks up at him, her hands moving to her hips to keep herself balanced. Looking up this much is going to start hurting after a while.]

Really? Route 66? That's what you've decided to go with?

[Her tone is light while a teasing smile begins to tug at the corner of her lips. Wavy blond hair falls over her shoulders while her backpack rests over one shoulder blade.

He reeks of magic and while Freya hasn't met a lot of mages she knew that they were all a little weird; in their own way.]

[She would soon learn that this one was weird even among wizards. He looks down at the very small woman looking up at his teasingly and he can't help but be reminded of Murphy. There was a power in her stance that suggested she could probably kick an ass if she really wanted to, and he hoped his wasn't on the list.]

Everybody's a critic. [He returns the smile with one of his own, a sarcastic smirk.] I could have gone with something else, but this place is pretty lacking in the tormented souls and pink champagne. [He looks toward the center of town, to the towering hotel and the only source of real light in the place.] It might be closer, though.

[A smirk tugs at Freya’s lips. She will continue to be critical from now until forever.]

I don’t feel all warm and fuzzy about the idea of never being able to leave. [Her bright gray eyes turn towards the Inn, the one building with bright lights shining in the windows.] There is a hotel though.

[She’s trying to force herself to relax but it’s difficult with the prospect of really being trapped here. Her talent is in running, having to remain in the same place scares her more than she’ll ever admit. Luckily the world doesn’t need to know that and like most things Freya keeps it bottled inside.]

By the way. [Freya looks back at Dresden.] Does tall, dark and scraggly have a name?

[Her tone remains light and teasing, her eyes flashing with humor. ]

[He rolls his shoulder in a shrug. ] I do, but that might just be heartburn.

[He doesn't pull his gaze from the inn as he speaks, and while the jokes never really stop with Harry, his tone suggests he's concerned.]

Tall, dark and scraggly doesn't appreciate the description, but would like to ironically state his name is Harry.

I didn't say scraggly, tall and dark wasn't also cute and handsome.

They aren't mutually exclusive. [Freya doesn't let her own worry slip into her tone. She's already on edge but she doesn't want some strange man she doesn't know to notice her discomfort.]

I'm Freya.

[Her tone sounds more resigned than before.]

Cute and handsome? Now I just think you want something.

[Because Harry, let's be honest, is bad with women. And with taking compliments.]

Alright, Freya. [He crosses his arms, resting his staff in the crook of his arm.] What do you make of this place?

I might want something later.

[She admits with an easy smile. She won't force him to take a damn compliment. He'll soon learn that Freya just calls it as she sees it. He's cute because of his playful tone but handsome because of the jaw line. She'd mostly blame genetics for that one.]

This isn't anywhere I've been before. [It smells weird.] And I've been to a lot of places. I went to sleep and woke up here which makes me think it's magic. [She's a very light sleeper.

With a heavy sigh she turns to face the forest. She doesn't need keen senses to know that there is something out there.] I think this place has a secret and you know what. [She squints at the dead tree line in the distance.] That really sucks.

[Freya doesn't want to be trapped anywhere...]

You can't set up a tab without my permission.

[That's not how favors work, kid.]

If it's magic, it's like none I've ever heard of before. [But her description is surprisingly similar. If he didn't know any better (which he really really does) it seems more like a fae abduction than magic.

He nods, giving her a reassuring smile. Or, at least a smile he hopes is reassuring.]

It probably has lots of secrets, and we'll have to start unraveling them if we want to know what they are, but first, I'm thinking we should see what that inn over there is all about, "never leave" or no, it looks like our best bet at civilization.

[You know, it's pretty troubling that the locals don't seem to be freaking out about all the new additions, either, but...that's another problem...maybe. Possibly a puzzle piece. Either way, 2000 piece puzzles don't get solved with two pieces.]

[Freya flashes a smile that suggests that he doesn't have a choice in the matter. She steps up next to him, her blond hair falling perfectly behind the slim build of her shoulders. Bright gray eyes fix on Harry looking up at him, though not directly at his eyes. It has nothing to do with soul gazing, he's simply to tall for Freya to look up at when she is this close.]

As for your question. Yes.

[Her smile widens as if to hide her discomfort.]

I'd be happy to join you.

No. [He glances down at her for half a second before looking away from her eyes.] But you'll probably take it anyway. I just want it on the record it wasn't freely given.

[He nods, motioning her forward first. Ladies first, after all. All the better to protect her backside if something goes sound.] My lady.

So mean.

[Freya continues to reply with a smile. At his motion her eyebrow raises slightly, her eyes studying him curiously.]

What? So I get hit with whatever might be inside first?

[Despite her retort she steps forward.]

[He continues to smile as well.]

Just honest, and no. So I can see what's coming first from both sides.

Honest is good.

[She assures him as she continues forward. She doesn't mind taking the lead, it means she can keep an eye out and move out of the way. Her reflects are probably faster than Harry's, wizard or no.]

You are taller.

[Honest is always good. Deception is annoying and wastes time.]

Exactly. I can see over your head and not even try.

[That is the case with most people.]

[Freya releases a soft huff of breath.]

I think you underestimate people a lot.

[The smell of someone else hits Freya as the wind shifts. She shifts her weight and dips low as a branch of some kind swings through the air. Her gray eyes watch it as it misses her and heads towards Harry.]

Harry!

[Her point was proven exactly half a second later whenever Harry was struck square in the chest by a branch swung at Freya's head. It knocked the wind from his lungs and sent him stumbling back four strides, but the wizard didn't go down.

Sheer willpower forced him to breath, and he looked up after the assailant, the dim light making it difficult to track the man. Had they just been mugged? He reached out a hand toward the fleeing attack and muttered a word of quasi-latin. He didn't mean to hurt the guy, and he didn't put much force behind the word.] Gravitas. [An unseen force pressed into the guy's back band his knees crumpled beneath him. The spell wouldn't last long, and it wouldn't harm the guy, but they might be able to get some answers.

Still wheezing, he coughed, straightening his coat as he stood fully erect again.]

That was a cheap shot.

Yeah but you were watching the whole time, right?

[Freya throws in a wise crack but only after seeing that Harry is safe. She walks over to the man who had fallen to the ground, her fingers curling around the straps of her backpack. She doesn't like strangers who just randomly attack.]

What do you want?

[She asks him though he's just grunting under Harry's spell.]

He can still talk... right?

[Freya has no idea what Harry did to him though she does know some Latin.]

Yep. I saw it coming a mile away. I just decided to man up and take it.

[That's his story and he's sticking to it. Harry goes to the man's side with Freya, shaking his head at the spectacle before looking to Freya and nodding.]

He sure can. [He crouches down, looking toward the man's face without meeting his eyes.] He's just a big whiner. I mean, I just took a branch to the chest and I'm not complaining. We can all get along, you know.

[Freya rolls her eyes at Harry's macho comment. She doesn't believe him at all though that doesn't seem very important with the man struggling against the ground.]

Yeah, sure.

[She has a feeling he might whine later. The man grunts before speaking, his tone sounds scared to Freya.]

I thought you were a shadow!

[Her brow furrows slightly and she waves at Harry.] Let him go. [She's seen those shadows and she can understand. She kneels next to the guy, her blonde hair falling over her shoulder.]

Hey, what can you tell us about those shadows?

It'll wear off on it's own in a few minutes. [He hadn't put much power behind the spell, not intending to hold the man for long.]

[The man grunts under the invisible weight of Harry's spell.]

They won't go into the light! Why else would I think you were shadows, skulking about in the dark like this?

[Harry crossed his arms, glaring down at the guy.]

Where did the shadows come from?

[The man continues to grunt and Freya decides it might be best to take a small step away from him. She isn’t really interested in being his target if he gets up pissed. She’ll let Harry take the roll of shield.]

Shadows disliking light, go figure.

[The stranger glares at the pair and Freya has a feeling that this might come and bite them in the butt later.]

That’s all I know. Stay to the Inn, that’s where there is always light.

[The spell seems to be fading because the man’s grunting stops and he begins to rise to his feet.]

Always light. It looks that way, anyway. [Harry steps back from the man, but only enough to give the man room to stand.]

Does everyone stay at the inn, yourself included?

[The stranger grunts as he stands, brushing off his pants and then grabbing his stick.]

Yes.

[Freya moves back to Dresden's side, her gray eyes seeing more in the darkness than others might.]

I guess we have a place to start looking for clues. Come on, Shaggy.

[Harry wanted to ask the nice man with the big stick more questions, but it didn't seem he was very forthcoming with answering. He glared his very practiced wizard glare after the guy as he moved off, by all appearances on patrol, and moved to catch up with Freya. It only took him two strides to do that. He had long legs.]

Maybe the inn'll have a pint or two. [It would be a place to start alright. A place to potentially meet the remaining survivors, since that's what this was quickly beginning to feel like, and hopefully get some answers.] So. Thelma or Daphne?

[Freya chuckles at the question.]

You really have to ask? [First of all, she's the smart one. So obviously it's Thelma. She also looks damn sexy in glasses but that doesn't seem to be an important thing to mention.]
